There are three types of tests available for COVID-19 personal testing:
Rapid COVID-19 and PCR COVID-19 tests are diagnostic tests that look for the active virus in your system to determine if you are currently infected with COVID-19. Rapid tests bring about results in just a few hours whereas the PCR test will provide results in a few days. While both types of tests are reliable, the PCR tests are considered more accurate. The antibody test determines if you have previously had the virus by looking for specific proteins called antibodies that your body developed to fight the virus.
A Rapid COVID-19 test offers the fastest turnaround time for results. A Paradigm staff member will swab the inside of your nose and the back of your throat to get a sample for analysis.
A PCR COVID-19 test experience is similar to the rapid test and also involves swabbing the inside of your nose and the back of your throat for a sample. PCR COVID-19 tests are the most accurate type of test because they look for specific genetic material in the sample to determine if the virus is present in your system.
An antibody test collects a sample of your blood via a finger prick or blood draw and is then sent to an approved lab for analysis.
